Dunhuang Grottoes, known as one of the 20th century's most valuable cultural discoveries, are located at the western end of the ancient Hexi Corridor route in the city of Dunhuang. Built in the Qin Dynasty of the Sixteen States, the grottoes boast exquisite murals and statues, and serve as the largest and richest source of existing Buddhist art in the world.
As a meeting point of Chinese, Indian, Greek and Islamic cultures, the Dunhuang Grottoes are not only a record of religious art, but depict the daily life of its people.
